Created with the guidance and blessing of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet, the Gyuto Wheel of Dharma Monastery was established in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to share the wisdom teachings of Tibetan Buddhism while preserving Tibet's great monastic traditions and unique culture in exile. His Holiness bestowed the Monastery's mission and its name (Tibetan: Cho-Khor-Gon, or "Wheel of Dharma").
The Gyuto Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Tibet's living cultural and spiritual heritage. The Foundation focuses on the Tibetan communities in North America, especially on California's largest Tibetan Exile community in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Foundation supports activities dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Tibetan culture through teaching, hosting local University students, interfaith dialogues and cultural programs.
The Foundation also supports programs for Tibetan seniors living in the Bay Area and new immigrants, and charity programs such as the Himalayan children's education and healthcare. www.gyutofoundation.org

The Gyuto Monastery is one of the most famous monasteries in Tibet and specializes in the study of Tantric meditation, Tantric ritual arts and Buddhist philosophy. The main disciple of the first Dalai Lama, Jetsun Kunga Dhondup, founded Gyuto Monastery in 1474 in eastern Tibet.
